One of the keys to drawing is practicing. Since it's been a while since I've had any commissions for pastel work, I decided I needed to practice a bit with pastels. Here I just set up a simple three piece still life. Maybe the subject matter is a bit "cheesy", but the glass helps improve observation skills, which are also important for enhancing drawing skills. The following sketch took me about 30 minutes to complete. It's good to do quick sketches from life observation from time to time in a medium that you feel that you may be becoming rusty at. This what I did here. It's a good idea to keep a sketchbook with all of these drawings. You'll be surprised to see the growth in your drawing skills that happen from the time that you start your sketchbook to the end.
